Focus on retail – Leamington Spa

Spectrum caught up with Lena Thakor – retail director at Specsavers Leamington Spa.

What is it like to work in Warwick?

Warwick and Leamington Spa are small towns which are known for their history and architecture.

From the medieval Warwick Castle and 19th century bathhouse to the beautiful flowerbeds of Jephson Gardens, it makes a lovely place to spent the day or weekend for both locals and visitors.

Voted happiest place to live in Britain in 2017, the Leamington Spa community always has lots of events going on throughout the year. Warwick has a fantastic market each Saturday which brings the community together.

Parking is easy in Leamington Spa with multi-storey carparks and free parking is available a short walk away.

Can you give us a few details about the practice itself?

This practice has been open for 30 years and has a fantastic location in the centre of the historic Leamington Parade.

We have five test rooms, one of which is dedicated to contact lens fitting. We are proud to run audiology clinics three times a week also. Our staff are like a family and dedicated to delivering excellent customer service. The experience within the team is vast with our longest team member being with us for an amazing 25 years. He among others is very well known within the community and customers ask to see specific members of the team as we have been their optician for years.

1,200 frames available

We have a wide selection of frames to suit all styles, sizes and requirements. Our children’s range is large and we are very proud of our designer range too.

My personal favourite is the Balmain range. This incredibly stylish brand has attracted the attention of many customers excited to try them.

What makes us different to other practices in the area?

We truly have an amazing team spirit and treat each customer as a friend to the store. Seeing a high volume of customers means we must work harder to make each person feel valued. The team have a genuine care for each customer and the reason for their visit to our store. We aim to make everyone to feel welcome and happy they chose us to look after their eyes and ears.
