Feedback about Ascend Higher, the CET-accredited careers workshop for optometrists has been so positive that more workshops will be delivered at the MiniPAC Roadshow events between March and May.
The workshop is aimed at optometrists who wish to explore, plan and work towards reaching their professional development goals. Piloted at last year’s Professional Advancement Conference, it was well-received by delegates who heard from role model colleagues and took part in the future-ready personal development planning activities.
So it is being delivered at all the MiniPAC 2018 events in order to give more people the opportunity to take part.
About Ascend Higher
Ascend Higher follows on from the successful Excel programme for newly qualified optometrists – the first step in the Specsavers Optometry Career Pathway.
This discussion workshop – worth 3 interactive CET points – is designed to help optometrists of any level explore their professional development aspirations, identify opportunities and begin to create a personal development plan for the future.
Delivered by enhanced optical services colleagues with a wealth of optometry experience, this workshop will inspire, inform and guide practitioners as to the opportunities available to them going forwards, helping them fulfil their professional responsibilities as well as their personal aspirations.
- Case examples of current eye care service changes that will profoundly influence your career.
- Personal development activities to boost ability to self-appraise, increase clinical performance, and identify aspirations.
- Explore professional development opportunities that can add value to the role of optometrist.
- Align professional, commercial, clinical governance and public health considerations in optometric practice with the GOC standards of practice.
To maximise the benefits of the workshop, it works well when it follows on from, or leads into a performance review in store.
