App for self-employed optical professionals

Locum booking app for self-employed optical professionals

Life as a self-employed optical professional has just got easier – as Specsavers in-house recruitment team has launched a new locum diary mobile app.

Self-employed professionals (locums) can now manage a busy work schedule across multiple stores, via the app. Available for iOS and Android devices, the app gives locums 24-7 mobile access to proactively begin the booking process for working days as well as provide their future availability. When a store opportunity becomes available, the app will notify optical professionals in line with where they want to work. Locums can also provide real-time updates on availability, check their future bookings and much more.

Alan Gregg, head of Specsavers Recruitment Services says: ‘We’ve made this substantial investment in new technology as we’re seeing more and more optometrists turn to self-employed work as a way of life, and want to make it as easy as possible for them to work with Specsavers’.

The app is managed by a team of specialists at Specsavers Recruitment Services (SRS) and self-employed professionals currently registered with SRS have automatically been sent access instructions, with over 2000 downloads app so far. The combination of this mobile app and a one-to-one relationship with our recruitment specialists means that every part of the self-employed working process will improve – a step that will undoubtedly benefit self-employed optical professionals and customers, ensuring full optometrist clinic cover is in place.

Locums working with Specsavers can now:

  • Be alerted to store’s job opportunities on the go
  • Submit interest in any location or dates at the click of a button
  • Update their availability instantly
  • Access all of their future bookings
  • Read Specsavers news

Download the new app at the Apple app store or on Android at the Google Play store, or just search ‘Specsavers Locum Diary‘.
